Analogue vs Digital

Below is a diagram to help United Church of Canada General Council staff understand the commonalities between the transfer of analogue records vs digital records to the archives.

Analogue vs Digital Records

Analogue

  1. Staff notifies the Archives with records to transfer
  2. Staff prepares a listing of material.
  3. Unit signs off on transfer.
  4. Material is transferred to Archives. The unit no longer has immediate access to the material. If records need to be consulted, please contact the Archives.
  5. The Archives team process the material.*
  6. Material is available to the public.

Digital

  1. SharePoint alerts the Archives that records are ready for transfer.
  2. A listing of material is compiled by the software.
  3. Unit reviews and approves records for transfer.
  4. Material is transferred to the Archives. Material is no longer available in SharePoint. If records need to be consulted, please contact the Archives.
  5. The Archives team process the material.*
  6. Material is available to the public.
